David has more than 20 years of experience as an Information Security specialist. He has held various CISO positions at a number of companies, including Delhaize Group, BNY Mellon, Brussels Airlines and Jan De Nul. David is an IT graduate but quickly found his way to the wonderful world of cybersecurity where he has remained ever since. He is managing partner of a consulting firm of Information Security specialists. Governance, Risk & Compliance is his favorite playing field.

David has already appeared as a guest speaker for several events including the Privacy Trial (2018), GDPR Salon (2018, 2019) and the Belgian Cyber Security Convention in 2019. Additionally, he has appeared as a guest lecturer at the Antwerp Management School for the Master Class ‘Information Security’ and at the Solvay Business School for the Executive Master in Information Security. His focus is always on a pragmatic approach and the translation of the theoretical material of Information Security.

Continuous learning is important for everyone who comes into contact with (cyber) security. This includes the necessary skills to achieve the important objectives of a cyber expert. The way to evolve from an expert to a leader and to keep all stakeholders happy is what makes this course relevant for those enrolled.

David values open dialogue and the ability to not pursue ideas that are sometimes strongly entrenched. His motto: no one holds the truth in leasehold. He is always open to respectful discussion of the various issues brought into the training.
